Today, I decided to do something fun with the kids, so we make a ton of no bake cookies. I found the best recipe and trust me, they are so good. If you want it, just let me know. Sometimes I wish I would do more things like that with the kids. Travis and Onnah had so much fun, I never even thought that they would like to measure things out and pour them into a pan, I usually just take care of all of it, but they loved it. The best part by far is eating them though. I think that this is something that we can all agree on. Onto a different subject, Travis had school yesterday. They were talking about all the different colors in the world, and they were having the children think of something and the color it it and then they would tell the class. Travis raised his hand and said that his butt was brown. His teacher asked him why his butt was brown, and he said, well, the stuff that comes out is. She was laughing so hard and the kids were all talking about their "stuff". Then Travis raised his hand and told them that when you drink blue juice, your "stuff" comes out green. I guess all the kids thought that was so cool and they wanted to drink blue juice so that their "stuff" would turn green.
sometimes I wonder about the sanity of my children or if they go through their days thinking of things that will embarrass me.

SO,
I got roped into going to a bbq at kevin's aunt Raylynns house. Of course, he will not be there because he is working, so I get to try and face everyone by myself. It kind of scares me a little, but I just hope that sid and joann will be there, or at least jodee. All the kids are excited because they get to see grandma mangum. They haven't seen her for about a year, so it will be nice to see how she is doing. His family is really talkative, and my friend Jen will be there, so I guess it will be fun. I ran into her at the store this morning, and she made me promist that I would come, plus she said she has several more bags of diapers for Maddison. It is pretty good, Maddison is over a year old, and we have never had to buy diapers yet. Jen keeps me supplied with them, and I am forever grateful to her for that.
Me and Jamie decided that we are going to do our own little BBQ tonight for the 24th of July, and I am looking forward to doing that. I love BBQ's. People are always so happy and have so much to say.

Mother of the Year? I think not
As I have been working around the house today, I have realized that life of a mother is strange. If you really think about it, we do really weird things, like wash our children's faces 50 times a day, knowing that the next time we see them, they will need it again; we wash the same clothes over and over again, knowing that in a couple of days, we will have to wash them again, and we find ourselves cooking food that we know our children will not eat, however, I did find a cure for this. JD is pretty good at eating whatever I give him, but he hates "green stuff". Last night for dinner, I made this chicken casserole that had chunks of chicken, which he loves, noodles, which he loves, cheese, which he loves, corn, which he loves, and peas, which he does not love because of the mere fact that they are green. So, he didn't really eat much for dinner, and I fed then the same thing for lunch. I noticed that he was not eating, so I decided to show him a pictures of starving children, and I found this one.... http://www.hoslink.com/medical_images/Starving_child_carried.jpg
needless to say, after I explained to him about how this little girl looks this way because she and her family have no food, and that she would be more than happy to eat his peas, he decided that peas weren't such bad thing, and he went back in the kitchen and cleared his plate.
I am so smart.... SMRT
I don't think that the action I took would necessarily vote me into the best mother of the year awards, but it was effective.

Memory Tag
I guess you are supposed to comment on a memory that you have of me.
This kind of freaks me out
Please be kind

So, How does that make you FEEL?
So I am sitting here on the couch. It is Sunday, and I am just waiting for the phone to ring to tell me that JD is back from his camping trip and that I can go and pick him up. I have been suprised that I have not gone completely crazy the last couple of days, but I have not worried about him at all, I have just missed him. This is the longest he has ever been away from me, but I bet he had so much fun. I think that it does kids good to be away fro their parets a while, just like when parents need a little break, I think it goes both ways. Anyways, just thought I would let everyone know.

Gone too far??
So, Sid and Joann called last night to see if JD could go camping with them in their new RV this weekend. My first initial instinct was to say no, but i am trying to not be so protective of him, so Kevin told them that he could, and so begins the packing... They are leaving today at 2:oo, and they won't be back until Sunday afternoon.
I placed two outfits containing everything he would need for that particular day(underwear and socks), rolled them up separately and ruber-banded them so that he would not have to wonder where I put his socks and such, and I did the same to his two pairs of pj's. (He is putting all of this in his book bag) Them I had his camp chair, but I couldn't fit it in his book-bag, so i managed to wrap the arm holes of the book-bag around the chair on the back part of the bag, so he can have a chair to sit on (I wouldn't want him to have to sit in the dirt or on a log) then, I remembered that he is allergic to bees and hornets, so i packed him his benadryl and a medicine dropper and taped a note to the benadryl telling them how much to give him if by chance he gets stung. Then, I remembered that he sometimes has growing pains in his legs, so i packed him some Tylenol with a dropper and a note to explain how much to give him. Then I realized that although Joann is a nurse, she never has band-aids, so I packed him some. then I remembered that last time we went camping, he got burned by a hot coal that popped out at him from the fire, so I packed him some burn cream. Then I remembered that he is highly sensitive to the sun, so I packed him some sunblock and a hat. I don't know if they are going to play in the water or whatever, so I packed him an extra shirt just to be safe. then I thought, you can't go camping with out a flashlight, although he is under strict orders not to go out of the RV after dark, but I packed him a flashlight just to be safe. I also packed him some children's pepto-bismal because there is a good chance that his stomach might get to hurting because....., well, better safe than sorry. I also packed him a warm sweater and a hoodie because I have no idea how cold it will get in the late afternoon part of the day..... Now, my question to you is... do you think that i went a little overboard?? Oh, I also packed him some hand sanitizer, and connect 4 and a three pack of playdough just in case they get bored.

What's The Deal With Laundry??
I just don't understand it. I have been doing so good at keeping the laundry, normally about 3-4 loads a day. I have been pretty busy the last couple of days, so I haven't been able to keep up with it, now today I have done 7 loads of laundry which is all piled up on the laundry table because i don't want to fold it until I have everything washed. I am drying my last two loads as we speak, so I guess this afternoon I will be folding, folding, folding. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just throw away our dirty clothes and a new clean fresh set would magically appear? Honestly, that would be my heaven.

For all the Mothers
I think that this pretty much sums up how it is to be a mom
For All Mothers
This is for all the mothers who froze their buns off on metal bleachers at soccer games instead of watching from cars, so that when their kids asked, "Did you see my goal?" They could say, "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," and mean it.
This is for all the mothers who have sat up all night with sick children in their arms, wiping up barf laced with Oscar Meyer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's OK honey, Mommy's here."
This is for all the mothers of Kosovo who fled in the night and can't find their children.
This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see and for the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes.
For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes and for all the mothers who don't.
What makes a good mother anyway? Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips?
The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time?
Or is it heart?
Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time?
The jolt that takes you from sleeping to dread, from bed to crib at 2 a.m. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby?
Is it the need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a school shooting, a fire, a car accident, a baby dying?I think so.
So this is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies.
And for all the mothers who wanted to but just couldn't.
This is for reading "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year. And then reading it again, "Just one more time".
This is for all the mothers who mess up. Who yell at their kids in grocery store and swat them in despair and stomp their feet like a tired two year old who wants ice cream before dinner.
This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started to school and for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead.
For all the mothers who bite their lips (sometimes until they bleed) when their 14 year olds dyed their hair green.
This is for all the mothers who lock themselves in the bathroom when babies keep crying and won't stop.
This is for all mothers who show at work with spit-up in their hair and milkstains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.
This is for mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot.
This is for all mothers whose heads turn automatically when a little voice calls "Mom?" in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at home or are grown.
This is for mothers who put pinwheels and teddy bears on their children's graves. This is for all the mothers whose children have gone astray and who can't find words to reach them.
This is for all the mothers who sent their child to school with a stomach ache, assuring that they would be just FINE once they got there, only to get a call from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up right away.
This is for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation.
And mature mothers learning to let go.
For working moms and stay-at-home moms. Single mothers and married mothers.
Mothers with money and mothers without.T
his is for you, so hang in there.
The world would be a terrible place without the love of mothers everywhere. You make it a more civil, caring and safe place for the precious children in our world.

BUZZ
I say buzz because that is all I am hearing right now. I woke up this morning at about 1 with a huge headache, and now all I can hear is a buzz. I don't necessarily think that this is a bad thing, but I'm not sure how it could be a good thing. Kevin's parents gave us their camp trailer yesterday, it is quite nice, but it had about an inch of dust on everything, so I have spent the day cleaning it, and putting Travis's day bed together that his aunt JoDee gave him. he absolutely loves it. He cracks me up. Kevin made lunch the other day which consisted of tunafish sandwiches, and Travis asked Kevin why he was feeding him cat food. kevin told him that is isn't cat food, it is made out of fish, then travis asked him why he was trying to feed him fish food. kevin explained that it was not fish food, that it was made out of a fish. Travis left it at that and ate his sandwich, then later on that night while I was tucking him into bed, he told me that he wanted to eat cat food tomorrow for lunch because it was delicious. I laughed so hard that I woke the baby up, then Onnah woke up because the baby was crying.... it must have taken me about another half hour to get them all asleep.

Thought of the Day
If a nursing mother had her nipples pierced would the milk come out of all three holes?
It is such a nice day outside today. I have a ton of homework to get done before my final is due on Monday, but I can't seem to stay inside. The kids and I took a bunch of old wash-rags and washed the van this morning, and then I went out into the post-office to talk to mom. She was sweeping her floor as she does every morning, and sure enough, Maddison found one of those swiffer dusters and began to "sweep" the floor too. Then mom walked outside and Maddison followed her and helped her sweep the walk way. It was too cute. Mom and Dad and Jamie and her children are going to go camping today, so I am planning on having a nice family night, maybe we will rent a movie or something fun like that. For those that are wondering, I am still washing the blue ink out of my hair.... Good times!

Thought of the Day
What is another word for "thesaurus"?
Is that Marge Simpson??
So, I don't know about you guys, but when I clean and I find a pen, i simply place it in my hair. Well, yesterday, I was a cleaning fool. I must have found about 5 pens that I put in myhair. Kevin was late coming home last night, so I continued my cleaning into the wee hours of the night, and by the time he got home, I was so tired so I took the pens out of my hair and went straight to bed. When I got up this morning, there was some thing on my face, and I just thought that I had rubbed up against Kevin and somehow got a little dirty or something so I scrubbed it of, wondering all the while why it was taking so long for coal dust to come off my face. At about 9:30 this morning, I went to brush my hair, but I couldn't, the brush would not go through it,and then discovered that there was something shiny all over my head, I went out to mom and we finally realized after touching it and seeing that my hands were turning blue that a pen had exploded in y hair. I figured that it would wash right out, but folks, I am here to tell you that blue pen does not wash out all that well. So I scrubbed for about 10 minuets, went out to mom during the process, where she was talking to Ted Ann Funk, and they both started laughing and calling me Marge Simpson because my hair was full of bright blue bubbles. I continued scrubbing, and rinsed it out to find that now my hands are now dyed blue from the blue bubbles, along with my scalp Mom is getting a kick out of this, and I am hoping that this will wear out before I have to take Kevin lunch at the power plant. The blue pen did not come out all the way, and I am afraid that no amount of scrubbing will help. ANY IDEAS ASAP!!!!! Please.

Jerri's Moto
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intent of arriving in a beautiful and well preserved body; but rather to slide in sideways, chocolate in one hand, pepsi in the other, body completely used up, totally worn out, screaming damn what a ride.

Why don't woodpeckers get headaches when they slam their head on a tree all day?
Getting Better
I have to admit that I am starting to feel a little better today. Ben decided he would give us all a nice gift when they came to visit, the flu isn't much fun, I would have really liked a chainsaw, but I settled for the flu. Can anyone guess what show the chainsaw line is from??

A Mothers Work
Sometimes I feel that a mothers work is never done. At least 3 times a week, when kevin comes home from work, I just want to say, "Well, do you want to know what went on in this house today while you were at your "JOB". Really, how much work can one person do? You have to disinfect things, constantly clean, do laundry, and all this before 10:00 when we have to go to the bank and the store. Do you really want to know what the funny thing is, As mothers, we really don't "HAVE" to do it. We could sit on our behinds playing games all day, but we do it because we love our families and our children. Have a good day!!!

Onnah Loves Bugs
I don't know what to do with my child. Onnah just loves bugs; she will spend all day trying to catch hoppers, worms, rollie pollies, and spiders, yes I said spiders. I really don't think that I was that way when I was little, so she must get it from Kevin's side. What I don't understand about the whole thing is the fact that she is such a girlie girl. I guess that is just kids for ya. They keep you guessing and wondering and worrying.
JD's Tradgety
Well, JD had a little incident today. I busy folding clothes and I heard him start screaming. I went to see what was wrong because he never cries, and there is blood all over his shirt. Apparently, he decided that it would be a good idea to climb on top of his dresser and jump onto bed. Well, after trying this, he learned his lesson because the bed threw him back and he hit his head right on the corner of the dresser. Paybacks suck.
Vacation
So, I was talking to the kids the other day about taking a vacation, and Travis asked me what a vacation was. I told him that a vacation is where you go somewhere really fun. He said, "I wanna go to Grandma Peay's House." They live in a beautiful house in Orem. I asked him why he would want to go there on vacation and he said, "Because it smells like Chickens." I'm really not sure where he got that, so I said" Travis, Grandma doesn't make chicken," and he said "no, mom; you know, the ones with wings."
This just proves that kids are crazy, of course, I live by the philosophy that raising kids is like getting pecked to death by chickens, so maybe there is something to be said about the whole chicken thing.

Maddison
Well, we have came a long way since this picture was taken. My Maddison is going to be 1 tomorrow. It makes me confused to think about about how fast time has went by. It seems that just yesterday I was getting married, for the first time mind you, now here am with 4 kids and a minivan wondering how in the crap all this happened. I hate to think about my kids getting older because my greatest fear is that they will be smarter than I was. Granted, I don't want my children to make the same mistakes that I did, but at the same time, I also don't want to feel stupid when I talk to them... Bartender... anyways, I am new to this whole blogging thing, so feel free to give me pointers because I have no idea what I am doing.
TAG
Apparently I am going to answer some questions. For all of you that are involved with the blogging thing, I think you are all aware that Janet can be a little pushy, if you know what I mean:)
3 Joys: Children, Popcorn, Kevin.... not necessarily in this particular order
3 Goals: Laugh More, Live More, Love More
3 Obsessions: My kids have to wear shoes, Their socks have to be on correctly, and I have to lay out my shoes the night before or else I cannot put them on.
3 Surprising Facts about me: I love going to school (who would have done thunk it?), I cannot chew chocolate, and I have a huge fear of moths.
OK, I guess I need to apologize for the "pushy Janet" remark. That was actually kind of fun.
